Custom PLA probe pairsfor any antibody combination
We conjugate proximity ligation assay oligos directly onto your chosen primary antibodies. Pair any two antibodies, including same-species clones, avoiding the need for secondaries and experiencing cross-species reactivity. From 20 µg, QC-released in days, not weeks.
Get started in 30 seconds
A few quick details — we'll reply same working day to scope your PLA probe pair.
When the standard PLA kit cannot make your pair
Secondary-based PLA needs two different host species and a catalog probe for each. Direct conjugation removes both limits.
Off-the-shelf secondary probes
- Locked to the host species the secondary probes support
- Two primaries from the same species cannot be paired
- Fixed PLUS/MINUS oligo chemistry you cannot change
- No characterization data on the probe you receive
- Weeks of lead time before you can run a control
With AbOliGo custom probes
- Probes conjugated directly to your chosen primary antibodies
- Pair any two antibodies, including same-species clones
- Oligo design and degree of labeling tuned to your assay
- Quantitative QC release: DoL, purity, free oligo, batch consistency
- QC-released probe pairs in days, from 20 µg per antibody
Built around your interaction, not a catalog
Tell us the two targets you want to detect in proximity. We make the probe pair to match.
Direct PLA probe pairs
Both antibodies conjugated to complementary oligos, so you skip species-matched secondary probes entirely.
Any antibody, any species
Pair two rabbit monoclonals, a mouse and a rabbit, recombinant fragments. The combination is yours to choose.
Custom oligo design
Connector and backbone oligos designed for your readout, with rolling-circle amplification in mind.
DoL optimization
Low, medium or high oligo loading on the same antibody to balance signal and background.
Proof in the gel
Tune DoL, on demand — with QC data to back it

Built for PLA users, not bulk orders
From 20 µg antibody
Validate a pairing while conserving precious primary, especially when screening candidate clones.
Days, not weeks
Rapid turnaround so you can run your first PLA control before the deadline.
QC-released
Every batch validated against quantitative criteria: DoL, purity, free-oligo removal, batch consistency.
Same-species pairing
Direct conjugation lets you pair two antibodies from the same host, which secondary PLA cannot.
Conjugation expertise
Flexible covalent coupling, fine-tuned across antibody formats and oligonucleotide designs.
Flexible pairings
Monoclonal and recombinant antibodies, any host species, custom connector and backbone oligos.
Who this is for
- Protein interaction researchers running in situ PLA on cells or FFPE tissue
- Teams whose two primaries are raised in the same host species, where secondary-based PLA cannot pair them
- Groups needing a PLA probe against a primary that has no off-the-shelf conjugate
- Core facilities supporting multiple PLA users on predictable timelines
What “QC-released” actually means
Every custom PLA probe is purified and validated against quantitative criteria before release:
- Successful antibody–oligo conjugation
- Degree of labeling
- Conjugate purity
- Removal of free oligo
- Batch-to-batch consistency
You get a characterized probe pair you can trust across experiments, replicates and future batches.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a custom PLA probe pair?
- A proximity ligation assay detects two proteins that sit close together by conjugating each detection antibody to a short oligonucleotide. When the two probes are in proximity the oligos are ligated and amplified into a bright, countable signal. We conjugate the complementary oligos directly onto your chosen primary antibodies, so the pair is ready to run without species-matched secondary probes.
- How is this different from off-the-shelf Duolink probes?
- Catalog PLA kits rely on anti-species secondary probes, which means your two primaries must come from different host species and must be species the kit supports. Conjugating the oligos directly onto your primaries removes both limits: you can pair same-species clones, use any host, and detect targets that have no catalog probe. It is a flexible alternative when the standard kit does not fit your pairing.
- Can you pair two antibodies from the same species?
- Yes. Because the oligos go directly onto each primary, host species no longer has to be different. Two rabbit monoclonals can form a working PLA pair, which is not possible with secondary-based PLA.
- How small a starting amount can you work from?
- From just 20 µg of antibody per probe, so you can validate a pairing without committing precious primary stock before you know it works.
- How fast is "days, not weeks"?
- Most projects move from request to QC-released probe pair inside a working week. We confirm timeline with you up front before any work starts.
- What does "QC-released" mean exactly?
- Every batch is purified and checked against quantitative criteria: successful conjugation, degree of labeling, purity, removal of free oligo, and batch-to-batch consistency. You receive a characterized probe, not a guess.
- What do I send you to start a project?
- The two antibodies you want to pair (clone, isotype, available amount), your target interaction, and the readout you plan to use. We reply with scope, timeline and pricing.
